The ALPHA Course

Today, what is your concept of God? Do you have a personal relationship with him? Do you want to start this relationship? Do you wonder if it is possible or necessary? Do you wonder why so many bad things seem to happen if God is all loving? How can you overcome the doubts and crisis that are so characteristic of today?

These and so many other perceptions and questions flood us each and every day. We all get to the point where we ask “What is the meaning of my Life?”

In Alpha – we explore these questions.

Over the course of 10 weeks we have 15 different talks; each covering a specific aspect of the Christian faith. We look at:

  • Who is Jesus?
  • Why did he die?
  • How can I have Faith?
  • What is the role of the Bible and Prayer?
  • How does God guide us?
  • Who is the Holy Spirit
  • What does he do and how can I be filled with him?
  • How do I make the most of the rest of my life,
  • How can resist evil, tell others about Jesus, experience His healing and find my place in God's Church?

When we meet online as we currently plan, we will share our talks, have discussions, prayer rooms, and invite God's will to be done. When we meet in person, we begin each evening during the course at 6pm with a really great meal, followed by live music, and then the talk. After the talk, we break into discussion groups to get the guests thoughts and feelings about the talk. We stop the discussion groups promptly at 8:30pm

We offer Alpha because we love you. We want you to experience a loving relationship with God. We want to give you the opportunity to explore this relationship. We hope you give us the opportunity to explore this with you.

(BTW: Alpha is currently running in over 169 countries and over 29 million people have attended Alpha. To explore more, go to:

Cafe Ministry

The vision of the Café Ministry is to enjoy making and eating food as a way to create a place of belonging throughout our ministries. The Café Ministry is comprised of four different teams.

Sunday Café – Coffee, juice and pastries are served each Sunday before worship to encourage a welcoming environment of relational fellowship with one another. Currently, we limit what we serve and are careful to provide sanitized and safe items.

Meal Ministry – Homemade meals are delivered to those in need after surgery, a family death, and the birth of a child or an undisclosed purpose.

Alpha, Prison Alpha, and Community Alpha – A homemade meal is served as part of the in-person Alpha Courses and Events.

Church Events – Renov8 Groups, picnics, and special dinners are organized and served.

It is our intent to create an environment where everyone is welcomed and belongs. Through each of these ministries we desire to show compassion and love to others as if we are serving Jesus.

We welcome anyone who has a passion for cooking and a compassionate heart for serving others to join any of these ministries.

Jesus said in Matthew 25:35-40

"'For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat,

I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in,

I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me,

I was in prison and you came to visit me.’"

“Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’"

“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’"

Guest Services

“Good morning!”

“Thank you for coming! How are you?”

“Can I help you with anything?”

These are just some of the words of greeting you will hear from team members of our Guest Services team. We love being here and we want you to feel comfortable. You have many choices about where you worship and/or where you go to find out more about God.

We are a church that is all about belonging before believing so our goal is that everyone feels loved and feels they are in a safe place, like home. God loves you. Everyone matters to God and therefore matter to us as well. We want everyone to see Jesus in us. We are his hands and feet.

The Guest Services team and specifically each team member are readily available to assist everyone. We will meet you in the parking lot, we have team members greeting everyone at the doors and handing out materials for the message. We will direct you to our information counter where you can get resources and other information pertaining to our church, direct you to the café where you can grab a snack and a drink, direct you to the area for our children’s ministry and/or direct you to the right person to answer any of your questions.

In the Gospels we see that Jesus had a zeal for the Father’s house. The Father’s house, Jesus said is a house of prayer. We take this seriously in many ways and as your Guest Services team, it is very important to us that everyone have the opportunity to come and worship and learn about God in a space that is prepared properly. We take the time each Sunday to ensure the worship space is tidy both before and after the service.

The Guest Service team is about the love and enjoyment of being here to help you and also to worship with you. We enjoy this ministry of making you feel very welcome at Renovation Vineyard church.

We would love to have you join our team if you have a passion for greeting and helping others. You can contact Kelly at:

VineKids ministry

Each week our team strives to make our children’s environment the most enjoyable place possible. In all areas there is music, fun hands on activities and games. Sometimes we get a little loud but we have a great time learning about Jesus. The Orange curriculum ( provides age appropriate lessons to help children develop their relationship with Christ. To volunteer, or for more information on our Kids Ministry Program, email Pastor Rick at

Nursery Area – Birth – 18 months

For our youngest children, we offer a warm and caring environment. Our nursery team members are very often parents of young children as well. The children will laugh and play as they enjoy engaging songs and activities.

Preschool Area – Ages 18 – 4 years

For children in this age group, we use the First Look curriculum that uses engaging activities to introduce pre-school children to God. First Look gives children a first impression of their heavenly Father and the wonder of His love for each one of them. They will build a faith foundation based on these 3 basic truths:

God loves me

God made me

Jesus wants to be my friend forever

Elementary Area –Pre K – 5 th grade

Elementary-age kids are in a constant state of discovery. Think about all the different things they are trying for the first time and what they’re learning every day, even how to make (and keep) friends. We use the 252 Basics curriculum for this age which is based on:

Luke 2:52 ….and Jesus grew in wisdom and stature and favor with God and man. It’s in the STORY OF GOD that we discover the CHARACTER OF GOD.

Prayer Ministry

Our Prayer Ministry Team is one of the most important teams at Renovation Vineyard Church. We feel very strongly about prayer as the vehicle for communication with God the Father through the Holy Spirit in the name of His Son Jesus. Our Ministry Time is a very open and yet intimate time each week as a part of our worship service. We ask for the Holy Spirit to come and to move and work in our midst. We believe that no concern is too small for God’s attention nor is any concern too large for Him to handle. If it concerns those of us who are trying to follow His guidance, it concerns Him even more.

Our Sunday morning Ministry Team members must have completed the Alpha Course and the Alpha Leadership Training prior to being trained as a member of the Ministry Team. Training courses occur about once a quarter. Check at the Info Counter for more details. If you are interested please indicate your desire to join the Ministry Team on your Connect Card this Sunday.

Tech Production

Tech Team Vision: To employ creativity and the use of audio/video technology in communicating the Message.

Renovation Vineyard Church places high value on the technical presentation at our service and events and there’s always room for new volunteer team members. Tech volunteers are vital not only at the Sunday service, but also at many events throughout the year. You could get involved with:

Sound/Lights and Computer – Sunday service and mid-week evening meetings. Monitor and adjust sound levels, operate stage and house lighting, and cycle videos, lyrics, message slides on screens. Training will be provided.

Production/Stage Crew – Help in designing and constructing various stage sets, special event build outs, props for videos, etc.

For almost every new video that you see on a Sunday, there have been people, and many hours spent working on it behind the scenes. You could volunteer to help with:

VideoCast – Sunday service and mid-week evening meetings. Help in acting, directing, videoing, designing videos for use in service, website, and advertising. Training will be provided.

Email Cindy at for more information about getting involved.

Worship Team

Music is one of the most elemental ways Christians respond to God in worship and tell the Gospel story. Song has always been a central worship practice for the people of God: The Israelites celebrated in song after crossing the Red Sea, and Paul talks about hymns, psalms and spiritual songs in Ephesians 5. There is something about song that expresses the inner heart of the singer that just saying the words can’t express. It allows communication from our souls. The heart of worship is the relational communion with God and His people. Singing together helps Christians engage in that reality. Singing songs of worship is a great way for people to open up, remove themselves from whatever distractions they have to encounter the Spirit of God. And when people’s hearts are opened to that interaction with Jesus, their lives begin to be transformed to look more like Jesus.

And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory,

are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory,

which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

2 Corinthians 3:18 (NIV)
